Jason Emanuel Britton 1967-

Jason Emanuel Britton is a California artist who grew up in Oakland, Eastern Oregon and St. Helena, and has lived in Sonoma County, New York City and San Francisco. He has resided in Richmond since 2000.

Mr Britton makes works on paper in pen, colored pencil, and watercolor, as well as acrylic paintings on canvas, assemblages, and mixed media sculptures. In 2013, he began making digital art on the iPhone and iPad. He is interested in both figurative and abstract themes. His work includes fluid, improvisational lines, with or without color. Affirmative and imaginative, his work displays a musical and stylish energy.

Jason Emanuel Britton holds an MA in Interdisciplinary Creativity and Arts Education from San Francisco State University, an MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and a BA in Theatre Arts from Sonoma State University.

Since 1998 he has been a lecturer in the Physical Education Program at UC Berkeley teaching dance and yoga.

His creative work has been seen at The El Cerrito DMV, The Richmond Art Center, The El Cerrito Art Association, The Santa Rosa Arts Center, The Cowell Theatre, ODC Theatre, Dance Mission, The Napa Valley Museum, The White Barn in St. Helena, Don’t Tell Mama in New York City, and The Berkeley City Club, among others.

An early influence on his aesthetic awareness includes his father, John Campbell Britton (1937-2001), a figurative sculptor and draftsman who taught at The California College of Arts and Crafts, and was active from 1962-1973 using materials including plaster, bronze, aluminum, and resin.
